    About this item

Scarce, very hard to acquire, mint un-issued surplus stock AUSTRLIAN SLR L1A2 BAYONET WITH FROG pre 1972 issue with parkerized finish.

This is a rare mint example of the L1A2 Bayonet manufactured by Lithgow after February 1959 to equip the Australian Army's L1A1 SLR. This rifle was the standard Australian Assault Rifle between 1959 and 1991. They were employed by Australian forces in all of the campaigns undertaken between those dates most notably in Vietnam.

There are no markings visible on this bayonet, which is normal, as Australian manufacturing production code numbers were deleted as of the 10th February 1959.

We purchased a bulk lot from a dealer in Australia who found these Bayonets for sale in Germany, the story goes it was mint surplus sold by the New Zealand Army to a German dealer quite a few years back the Australian dealer was reading a dealers surplus magazine in the USA and read, British SLR Bayonets bulk lot for sale, wait a minute there not British there rare Australian made Bayonets, (there is a difference) he purchased the lot. We in turn purchased all the stock he had.

To display the Bayonet we purchased some stunning SLR FORE FRONT DISPLAY STAND made from resin with the inside of the barrel having a steel rod to cope with the weight of the Bayonet fixed to it, as you can see the details are excellent Gas Adjuster, Fore Sight, Gas Plug, Sling Swivel, Flash-hider and so on, fitted to the stand is a beautiful Brass Plaque L1A1 SLR.

Please note although the Bayonets are mint, there might be some light scratches or marks as they where transported from Germany in a wooden box without great care taken to wrap each bayonet.

A sensational memento of you military service, we have ours displayed in our office and it looks just amazing.  Please note we have the Bayonets and the Green Bayonet Frogs in stock, the Stand is still on its way from Europe and should arrive any day now as soon as the wholes set is complete, we will ship it out.
