Extremely scarce 1950's made WWII/ 1957 PATTERN GERMAN NAVY MINESWEEPER BADGE TYPE1 guaranteed 100% original. These early Type 1 Badges are extremely scarce, and highly prized by military collector's worldwide. This rare badge is in a great condition, the silver plating on the ship has darkened, or worn.

Made to comply with the new German laws of 1957 Without Banned Nazi Swastika. This type of German Order was re-awarded without the Swastika to those who served in WW2 and then continued their military careers in the newly formed post WW2 German (Bundeswehr) Federal Defense Force which was formed in the 1950's, now again proudly wearing these German Gallantry Orders on their military tunics, serving with allied NATO forces in the Cold War against the then Soviet Union. Also worn by veterans' to their once yearly unit Kriegs Kameraden reunions.

This badge would have been made by the only authorised & licensed official contracted German manufacturer Steinhauer&Lueck, Luedenscheid, Germany, and still the only official Government contractor manufacturing all of Germany's official national decorations. It is 100% Authentic.

S&L did not have the sole monopoly on manufacturing 1957 decorations, as demand was so high by WW2 German veterans', other famous German firms such as Deschler & Sohn, BH Maher and Juncker also manufactured these new historical revised WWII German decorations without Swastika.

Only buy a 100% guaranteed original that actually has a real collector's value, it will be a fantastic investment to your collection. Please read our guide on the subject of 1957 German decorations.

HISTORY: The Minesweeper War Badge or Minesweepers, Sub-Chasers and Escort-Vessel War Badge (German: Kriegsabzeichen fur Minensuch-, U-Boot-Jagd- und Sicherungsverbunde) is a German military decoration awarded to Kriegsmarine members for service on Minesweepers boats (worn on the lower part of the left breast pocket of the naval service tunic, underneath the 1st class Iron Cross if awarded, or equivalent grade award.)

Criteria for the award included recommendation from the ship's captain if the candidate had completed 3 operational sorties, or had been wounded during an operational sortie, had shown exemplary conduct in the execution of his duties over a 6 month period, completed a specially dangerous mission in a mined area, served on escort duty for 25 days or more, participated in a specific mission that had been successfully completed, or if the ship was sunk due to enemy action.
