    About this item

    RARE ORIGINAL

GENUINE US ARMY MASTER DIVERS BADGE

This is a genuine current as awarded US ARMY MASTER QUALIFICATION BADGE. It is the highest qualification dive badge within the US Army. It was manufactured by a current US Government manufacturer Vanguard USA, and is federal regulation hallmarked on the reverse D-22 MADE IN U.S.A. It measures 32.mm (H) x 28.mm (W). It has a beautiful silver finish, with extremely fine detail. It is worn on a Military Tunic as a breast badge, and is attached with two prongs and clutch back plugs. Just a stunning badge to add to your military collection.

The United States Army's diver badges resemble the badges of the U.S. Navy, except for the Master Diver badge, as the Army has no such officers and medics, however, Navy-awarded diving officer and medical officer diver badges are authorized for wear on Army uniforms with written approval from the Army's Human Resources Command.

On 17 September 2004, the Army's Scuba Diver badge was renamed the Special Operations Diver badge, and an additional grade, the Special Operations Diving Supervisor badge was created. Previously, the Navy and Army Scuba Diver badges had been identical. The new design includes sharks, symbolizing speed, stealth, and lethal efficiency, and two Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knives in saltire representing the heritage of OSS Operational Swimmers during World War II. The Combat Diver Qualification and Combat Diving Supervisors Courses are taught by Company C, 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Warfare Training Group at the Special Forces Underwater Operations School, Naval Air Station Key West.
