This magnificent original Italian Order comes in its vintage beautiful Red Presentation Case.
This order is in an extremely nice condition considering it's age, measuring a large 52mm. The maker was Arturo Pozzi, Roma Galleria Colonna 12.
The Order of the Crown of Italy (Ordine della Corona d'Italia) was a conferred by the Kingdom of Italy. Established by King Victor Emmanuel II on 20 February 1868 to commemorate the Italian unification, the Order was awarded to both the military for bravery and service and also to civilians for merit.
During WWII many German Officers were awarded this decoration by the fascist Mussolini Government
After Italy became a republic in 1946, the Order was effectively replaced by the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
