A stunning original GREECE ROYAL ORDER OF GEORGE 1 IN FITTED PRESENTATION CASE. An extremely rare find in this exceptional fine condition. A beautiful solid silver cross with exquisite rich enamel work.
The Royal Order of George I was formerly an order of Greece named after King George I of Greece. The Order was created in 1915 by King Constantine I of Greece and was awarded to those who distinguished themselves in causes to the Greek nation.
The badge of the Order is a white enameled Latin Cross made from fine silver with a wreath of laurels between the arms of the cross. The obverse central disc is in red enamel, bearing the crowned back-to-back monogram"ΓI" (for GEORGE I OF GREECE), surrounded by a ring bearing the motto "IΣXΥΣ MOΥ H AΓAΠH TOΥ ΛAOΥ" (My Strength is the Love of the People).
